VASS Mag. Dr. Beatrice Sommerauer

Dr. Beatrice Sommerauer joined the scientific team of the department of Univ.-Prof. DDr. Bernd Wieser in July 2022. Dr. Sommerauer has been working as a contract assistant at the Institute for Public Law and Political Science for many years and has contributed to many of the institute's working areas.

In addition to the ongoing teaching at the Institute - Dr. Sommerauer supervises the "Übung zur VO Einführung in das öffentliche Recht", the practical course "Universität und Praxis (Praktikum Öffentliches Recht)" as well as together with Univ.-Prof. Wieser, Univ.-Prof. Poier and Ass.-Prof. Schnedl the seminar "Steiermärkisches Landesrecht (mit Exkursion)" - Dr. Sommerauer also teaches at the Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences and supervises there the compulsory lecture "Gesetzeskunde für Studierende der Pharmazie".  In this context, she has authored the textbook "Gesetzeskunde für Pharmazeutinnen und Pharmazeuten" (2nd edition 2018).

Her research focus is particularly in the area of juvenile law. Due to demand, Dr. Sommerauer is currently updating her "Handbook of Austrian Youth Protection Law" and publishing it as a 2nd edition. Her research interests also include the area of information law (with a focus on document re-use law) as well as comparative administrative law in general.

In the context of the REWIPRAXIS (internship exchange) of the University of Graz, Dr. Sommerauer is responsible for the pre-selection (ranking) of applications for public law internships.

Since 2019, Dr. Sommerauer is chairperson of the Curricula Commission for University Courses from the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences and the Faculty of Law.
